Philadelphia – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic and Finance Minister Zoran Tegeltija, on the last day of their visit to the US, attended a Vidovdan Liturgy in the Church of St. Nicholas in Philadelphia and a ceremony marking the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the first Serb, Djordje Segic /George Fisher/, to the US.
An auction of paintings and other items related to Serbian history and culture was also held in Philadelphia, the proceeds of which will go to citizens of Srpska and Serbia that were hit by devastating floods, says a press release from the Republika Srpska Government’s Press Office.
Father Milorad Orlic, who served the Holy Liturgy, said that every contact with the homeland is very important and that the arrival of the Republika Srpska Prime Minister is important for members of the Serbian community in Philadelphia.
At the same time, an exhibition titled “Jadovno,” on the sufferings of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia in 1941, was also opened.
