Dodik: Republika Srpska President called on citizens to vote in a referendum

BIJELJINA – Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik called this evening on Republika Srpska citizens to vote in a referendum on Republika Srpska Day on September 25 and stressed that everything is being done in keeping with the laws and democratic procedures and that the IC has no reason to intervene.
“A referendum on Republika Srpska Day is not any testing, as Bakir Izetbegovic feels, this is the issue of our status and our lives. No one can minimise the referendum on Republika Srpska Day this way,” Dodik told SRNA.

“I call on all citizens of Srpska to vote in a referendum and thus demonstrate their commitment to Republika Srpska Day and oppose endeavours and interference by Bakir Izetbegovic who imagined that he can determine Republika Srpska Day and decide instead of us,” Dodik said.

Commenting on Izetbegovic’s statements in connection with 2018, Dodik said that this is the issue of that year and that is when it will be decided, but in any case, Izetbegovic is not the one who will decide it.

“Constant calls to the IC to fulfil their wishes speaks that they got used to instrumentalising the IC against Serbs and Republika Srpska, but this time has passed and we survived this torture as well,” Dodik said.

He said that no one can impose their positions on Republika Srpska anymore.

“The IC has no reason to intervene. This is being done in keeping with the laws and democratic procedures known in the world. No one can expect us to accept a biased behaviour of the IC. I hear this from some Embassies, but I think that this is a story learned by heart, that it is the easiest way to condemn Serbs and remain in peace with Bosniaks, who, of course, are their first target in preserving their own interests,” Dodik said.

According to him, impositions /by High Representative Valentin/ Inzko and bans are out of the question.

“I call on the people to vote in a referendum even if the Constitutional Court would, on any grounds, shamefully ban the referendum,” said the Republika Srpska President.

Dodik stressed that the referendum must be held and it will be held on September 25, whether “some in Sarajevo like it or not.”

“We do not live here to be liked by Sarajevo. We live here to regulate our relations and to see to it that our community is functional and good,” said the Republika Srpska President.

SDA president Bakir Izetbegovic said today that the SDA was of the opinion that a referendum on Republika Srpska Day was a testing for a referendum on secession of Republika Srpska from BiH and that no peaceful or any separation can occur in BiH.

Izetbegovic feels that the destruction of the peace agreement inevitably leads to, as he said, the destruction of peace in BiH and “probably in this part of Europe,” and that it is planned that this be done in 2018.
