Izetbegovic, Lagumdzija, Davutoglu, Al Attiyah meet: Qatari investors soon in BiH

On the margins of the Sarajevo Business Forum, the highest officials from BiH and Qatar, at the initiative of Turkey, spoke of possible cooperation.

Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, foreign minister of Qatar, said today after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu, his BiH counterpart Zlatko Lagumdzija, and Bakir Izetbegovic, chair of the BiH Presidency, on the margins of the SBF, that his country envisioned potential and investment possibilities in BiH, and that very quickly Qatari investors will be present in BiH, the Anadolu Agency reports.

He said that Qatar is interested in two methods of entry to BiH.

“The first is strategic investments, primarily in the energy sector, and the second is forming a Qatari-BiH Friendship Fund, through which support and assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises would be enabled,” the Qatari minister said.

He stressed that Qatar is not interested just in investment in BiH, but is deeply aware of all the potential BiH has to offer, as well as the fact that BiH is possessed of significant human potential.

The chief of Qatari diplomacy said that, at the initiative of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, his country had taken steps toward economic cooperation with BiH, emphasizing that in this sense they would continue to collaborate with Turkey in order to continue the earlier-established three-way cooperation among the countries.

Davutoglu said that the SBF is an opportunity to concretize earlier-launched initiatives, primarily involving Turkish-Qatari cooperation in the sense of supporting BiH and increasing investments in the country.

He recalled one form of investment, Turkey’s loan of €100 million to assist and support returnees and development of rural areas.

“We held a very constructive meeting with BiH and Qatari representatives and I expect that very quickly we will reap the fruits of these initiatives. We are always with BiH and we will always support the bright future of BiH and the Balkans,” said Davutoglu.

Chairman Izetbegovic said that a great friend of BiH, the chief of Turkish diplomacy Ahmet Davutoglu, launched the initiative on cooperation with Qatar and thanked both of the officials for the support they offer BiH. (AA)
